Choosing to work for an internship program at the Natural Parks Foundation, Kamikochi is something I will always cherish. Staffs are very welcoming, filled with high spirits and working with
dedication, commitment, and passion.
Thank you Kamikochi for allowing me this wonderful opportunity, it has been a wonderful learning experience.

Upon arrival I was greeted by the beautiful scenic view of the
mountainous forests – in fact what is visible at Kamikochi
are some of Japan’s highest mountains. Joining the mountain
climbers is one fun activity to do in Kamikochi, particularly
at the Chubu Sangaku national park in the summer. Once
reaching the top of the mountain you are not only get to see
the sun rise in the morning, but get to view the wonderful
aspects that nature and the beautiful unique landscape the park offers such as mountain ranges, volcanoes, river systems, lake and the list goes on. The Park does not only provide settings for healthy outdoor living and recreation, thus exploring more will
not only reconnect one with nature, for me personally it enables me to understand more of nature. In addition,it provides me
a sense of not only adventure, but more of a challenge and
self-discovery, realizing that I can do more than what I have
contributed in the past towards conservation. This has been
a wonderful feeling. Kamikochi is filled with its richness in
biodiversity with more than 700 plant species around the park
and is a home to some of Japan’s rare and endangered bird and
animal species. The park has a unique landscape, enhancing its
natural beauty particularly with the growth of some native
species around Kamikochi. This has also allowed the
opportunity for students around the area to learn, thus
providing opportunity for public education. On my sixth day at
the park, I had a chance to meet with the parkvolunteers who
are from all over Japan and manage to share information on
Kamikochi and learn from them as well.
